The Loin and the Mouse– I have included a brief story card for student use. Simply print, cut and laminate story cards and vocabulary words. Make multiple copies of student recording forms and place at center. Students will use story card for context clues to determine which definitions the vocabulary cards match up to. Students can use a dictionary to check their words and then complete the recording form.
The vocabulary cards can also be used as an additional center to put cards into alphabetical order. Students will use provided recording form for documentation.
The Tortoise and the Hare- I have included a brief story card for student use. Simply print, cut and laminate story cards and sequence strips. Make multiple copies of student recording forms and place at center. Students will use story card to read and then put sentence strips in the correct order. Afterwards, students will record the number in which each event occurred in the tortoise’s shell.
The Fox and the Crow- I have included a brief story card for student use. Simply print, cut and laminate story cards and grammar sentence cards. Make multiple copies of student recording forms and place at center. Students will read the story and then determine if the highlighted words found on each card, are either nouns or adjectives. Students will use recording form for documentation.
Putting it all Together– Print, cut and laminate moral cards. Students will now reread (if necessary) each fable and determine the moral of the story. Students will read the fable cards and determine which fable the moral can be found in. Then students will interpret each moral into kid friendly language, explaining what the moral means.
