This activity is based on fractions, it's a differentiated form of non-formal assessment or it can be used in a center! Aligned with CCS and based upon Webb's Depth of Knowledge.
This task is a differentiated, leveled math task.
The first page is the general task for ALL students on grade level.
The second task is for struggling students or those that may be below grade level or close to below.
The third task is for students on grade level.
The fourth task is for students above grade level.
** For my above grade level students I tend to let them do the whole packet, (as review, can't hurt) then I let them use whatever classroom materials for that final task. If they want to push their limits, be creative, use technology, I allow it. That's what that upper level task is for.
As the teacher, I decide which tasks are appropriate for which students. I group them in small groups for this activity. This way, they all see the whole group doing the same activity.
