Use these winter math centers and games to help students practice fact families. Your students will enjoy the 4 winter-themed activities, while refining their addition and subtraction skills.
Students need to develop strategies to help them solve math problems automatically. In this set of centers and practice pages, students will use fact families to help them solve related addition and subtraction facts.
The set includes a winter-themed fact families poster (shown in the sample pages), as well as the following 4 games and recording sheets (where appropriate):
•Sort: Fact Family or Not
(determine whether or not groups of facts are related)
•Make a Fact Family
(sort +/- facts into sets of fact families)
•Fact Family Puzzles
(use one fact to rapidly solve a related fact)
•Fact Family Dice
(roll a pair of dice and create a fact family based on the numbers rolled)
The set also includes 2 additional practice pages related to these skills. Also included are simple student directions with picture cues, providing your early readers the support they need to use the center independently.
This set of centers includes everything you’ll need except dice. Standard dot dice will work; dice with larger numbers can also be used to provide a greater challenge.
