Packet includes 25 printable worksheets
aimed at helping students understand the relationship between numbers, the commutative property, and helping students find the greatest common factor (GCF) between two numbers.
There are also 10 answer keys for each review page and Factor T and Finding the GCF page.
How it works:
Given a certain number, students find all of the possible multiplication facts that equal the given number. For example: for 24, they can write the fact family numbers 1 x 24, 2 x 12, 3 x 8, or 4 x 6. They can also fill in any extra spaces with the reciprocal families, 24 x 1, 12 x 2, 8 x 3, and so on. The facilitator can then explain that 24 ÷ any of the family numbers equals the other number. This packet will help students master their multiplication and division facts and the commutative property.
After students are familiar with finding the basic facts, they can start creating their Factor T’s. Factor T’s are similar to fact families, but are written all on one T. The student starts with 1x, then tries 2x, then 3x, and so on, going in order down the left side of the T; until they cannot write any more facts without repeating a number already on the T. They can then write all of the factors easily
in numerical order going down the left side of their T and up the right side of their T. This makes finding the GCF between two numbers very easy!
My 5th grade students loved the Factor T's and told me that it really helped them!!
The last pages in the packet are left blank, allowing the facilitator to fill in random topic numbers for students who may need more practice.
