Use these 108 Triangle Fact Families with school supply graphics to introduce, reinforce, or practice number families to 20!

★ Great for learning addition and subtraction facts!

★ 24 Different School Themed Graphics
★ Being able to write the number facts for a Fact Family is an important skill that helps students realize how memorizing one fact helps you to know 3 other facts right away!

Common Core: Number Families
Understand and apply properties of operations and the relationship between addition and subtraction.
• CCSS.Math.Content.1.OA.B.3 Apply properties of operations as strategies to add and subtract.2 Examples: If 8 + 3 = 11 is known, then 3 + 8 = 11 is also known. (Commutative property of addition.) To add 2 + 6 + 4, the second two numbers can be added to make a ten, so 2 + 6 + 4 = 2 + 10 = 12. (Associative property of addition.)
• CCSS.Math.Content.1.OA.B.4 Understand subtraction as an unknown-addend problem. For example, subtract 10 – 8 by finding the number that makes 10 when added to 8.

Use just the Triangle Facts that are appropriate for your students. This activity can grow with your students’ abilities and allow for differentiation.
I have included black and white recording sheets if you want to make copies.
I have included colored recording sheets if you want to laminate them and make them part of a center for students to write on with erasable markers.
There are black and white versions to make copies for students to write on with pencil.
There are 2 types of recording sheets:
One has the addition signs, subtraction signs and equal signs for students who are just beginning to learn about fact families.
The other is for more advanced students and has just lines for students to write the facts in their entirety.
I have also included Fact Family Awards, 2 in color and 2 in black and white for students to color.
Students need to remember:
The 2 smallest numbers always add up to the largest number.
The order of those 2 smaller numbers can be changed because
of the Commutative Property of Addition.
The subtraction facts always begin with the largest number.
Either of the smaller numbers can be subtracted from the largest number.
