Build it is an exciting game that blends stem and skills practice. This Circus Build It game will allow students to practice working with fact families. There are two games included that will allow students to practice different elements of fact families. The first game gives students three numbers and asks them to write the fact family. The second game asks students to apply what they know about fact families to solve missing number problems.
To play Build It:
-Each player will need a build it mat.
-The players will also need a stack of task cards and some type of manipulatives to build with. I like to use foam blocks because they are quiet when they fall down, but you could also use blocks, connecting cubes, plastic cups, or fruit loops!
-Students take turns drawing a task card and recording or saying the answer.
-When students answer a card correctly, they can draw a block to add to their building.
-There are two ways to play:
Competitive: see who can build the tallest structure without it falling down. Students
can use the Build It mat for this game style.
Creative: students just build creatively or even collaboratively. Students may or may
not use a building mat for this game style.
Included in this set (all items are included in black line and full color):
-Building Mat for students to use under their tower or other creation
-Fact Family House work mat to place in page protector
-18 Fact Family Number Task Cards that students can use to practice writing their fact family
-40 Missing Number Problem Task Cards
