Student Expectation 3.4F: recall facts to multiply up to 10 by 10 with automaticity and recall the corresponding division facts.
Before you begin:
Copy, laminate, and cut out a set of fact family cards for each group or individual.
Rules and Procedures:
Students can play alone or in groups of 2-4 players.
Have students shuffle the cards and spread them out, face down, on a table.
The object of the game is to find fact family statements that belong together. The first player will turn over two cards.
If the cards are a match, he/she will keep the cards and get to play again.
If the cards are not a match, he/she must turn them back over, face down again, in the exact spot they were in. It is the next player’s turn.
A match will be two cards from the same fact family. Example: 8 x 7 = 56 and 56 8 = 7 are a match.
The winner is the student with the most matches when all the cards have been matched.
