In this file you will receive a total of 4 different fact and opinion sorts at a basic level. Each sort includes approximately 14 statements that are either fact or opinion. The students cut out the statements and glue them into the correct column of a T chart (included). Being able to sort with their hands gets students more involved in their work.
In the advanced fact and opinion sort, the student is given 8 statements. They must decide whether the statement is a fact or opinion and sort the statements into the appropriate column. After sorting, the student must be able to explain why it is a fact ( Can you prove it?) or explain why it is just an opinion ( That's what you think!) in their own words.
Also included in this download is s a large group activity. The teacher will hand (or write) the headings "Fact" and "Opinion" on the board. The students will then place their statement in the correct column.
It is recommended that all statements are printed on colored paper to make it more enjoyable to the students. They will then glue the cut out colored statements onto the T chart that can be printed on white paper ( or vice versa).
