These 15 activities will help students understand and identify the differences between facts, opinions and claims using real world examples including printed materials, interviews, advertisements, newspapers and the internet.

ORGANIZATION - Each activity is 2 pages long. Page #1 is generally for teaching, reinforcing and gaining understanding. Page #2 is focused on allowing opportunities to use and practice skills. Icons identify and link activities.

CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS - Activities progress from simple to complex using Bloom's Taxonomy. They move from personal connections to making connections with greater world.

SELECTION OF EXAMPLES - Real world examples are based on student interest and topics where the average student has general knowledge.

ADAPTION OPTIONS - Assign different sections based on student needs. Each student will complete three activities. Appropriate to use for small group work or centers. Detailed instructions and directions are specifically written to allow for homework success.
