Contents

Fact or Lie Activity Idea (no resources needed!)
Activity 1: Fact or Lie – Numbers Version (11 cards + recording sheet)
Activity 2: Fact or Lie – Classroom Version (6 cards + recording sheet)
Activity 3: Fact or Lie – Random Topics Version (12 cards + recording sheet)
1 Fact or Lie Worksheet

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fact or Lie: Numbers Version

11 cards are included: Each card includes a number. Cut + laminate them for duration. You can either distribute 1 card to each student (randomly) or you can hide them around the classroom and ask your students to find one card each.

Each student needs to make up a fact/lie related to the number on their card.

Hand out a recording sheet to each student. There are two versions of different difficulty. For younger students, use the recording sheet on P13. The sentence structure and fact/lie is limited to “(Name) has (Number) ________”. The recording sheet on P14 has no limit on how students make their facts/lies. They can say “Mary is five years old,” “Tom knows 2 different languages,” “Amy can play 4 instruments,” and many more. This recording sheet would suit older students.

After each student has a ‘number’ card, tell them to go around the classroom asking each other “Can you tell me a fact or lie?”. Tell your younger students to respond with “I have (number) ______” whilst for your older students, let them be creative with their fact/lie.
Students need to record the facts/lies they discovered from other students. They need to guess whether their classmates’ fact/lie is true or not. They should colour in the fact/lie box accordingly.

Fact or Lie: Classroom & Random Topics Version

Cards are included. Cut + laminate them for duration. You can either distribute 1 card to each student (randomly) or you can hide them around the classroom and ask your students to find one card each.

Tell your students to think of a fact or lie related to the question/topic.

Distribute 1 recording sheet (Classroom - P15; Topics – P18) to everyone. They must find out an answer to each question from their classmates and record their classmates’ names too. Afterwards, they need to decide whether their classmates told them a fact/lie. For the classroom version, they would be able to find out the truth by for example, counting the number of girls in the class! For the topics version, they can only guess.

Have a class sharing session after everyone completes their recording sheet!
