Product Description
Factor Race is an exciting, fast-paced cooperative learning game that will help your students build speed and accuracy with finding all the factors of numbers up to 100. This skill is increasingly important in the upper elementary grades as students tackle increasingly difficult division problems and dive into fraction computation.

Students can play Factor Race in groups of 2, 3, or 4. To begin, the Leader flips over a task card and shows the target number. All players race to see how many factors they can find in a given amount of time. They earn one point for each correct factor, one bonus point for finding ALL the factors, and another bonus point for listing the factors in order. The catch? If they include even ONE number that is not a factor of the target number, they don’t earn any points for that round!

What’s Included in Factor Race?
Factor Race includes a variety of instructional resources for the teacher and game materials for the students, and most of the materials are available in B&W and color. There are two sets of task cards for the game, Level A and Level B, making it easy to differentiate instruction. Level A requires students to find factors of target numbers up to 35, and the target number cards for Level B include numbers from 36 to 100. Each set includes 18 Target Number Cards along with an answer key showing all the factors of each number. If you like using QR codes,
both sets have a QR code version, too!

Common Core Alignment
Factor Race is aligned with the 4th Grade Common Core Operations and Algebraic Thinking standard 4.OA.B.4, “Find all factor pairs for a whole number in the range of 1-100. Recognize that a whole number is a multiple of each of its factors. Determine whether a given whole number in the range 1–100 is a multiple of a given one-digit number. Determine whether a given whole number in the range 1–100 is prime or composite.” Even though the activity is not specifically aligned with standards for grades 5 and 6, students at those grade levels need to be able to find factors quickly and accurately in order to work with fractions.
