Product Description
Factoring is a very important skill in grades 4 - 8, yet our students are missing some essential skills needed to factor quickly and effectively. One of those skill is taking half of large even number quickly and accurately. This set of games will teach your students how to divide a number in half and then help them practice it until they are automatic.

For example, your students may not be able to factor 96 as 3 x 32, but they should be able to perform 2 x 48, which would then become 2 x 2 x 24, and so on. Halving is an essential skill for taking the first step when factoring all even numbers.

There are 4 different games, that are designed to help your students halve and double difficult numbers like 38 and 76. By using the distributive property, students will take a number like 76, halve the tens place (70 ÷ 2 = 35) and the ones (6 ÷ 2 = 3), then add them together to make a half (38.)

Each game focuses on one set of halves, like those ending in 2's, 4's , 6's and 8's. They also practice halving the tens numbers like 30, 50, 70 and 90.
