Important Note: The PowerPoint animations in this lesson don't work with Google Slides. You must use PowerPoint!

The detailed and colorful animated Power Points that are integrated throughout this lesson will really help you’re students understand the complicated topic of perfect square trinomials. The lesson covers in detail how to multiply and factor perfect square trinomials. Students are also shown how to solve equations that contain perfect square trinomials. Rectangular models are employed throughout this product. I have found that the “rectangular model method” to be the best method when factoring trinomials or multiplying two binomials, because it gives students a visual model of the factoring process. And when students grasp concepts on a deeper level they will gain deeper insights into mathematics and have better problem solving skills in the long run. . My students have so much benefitted from this lesson and I hope your students benefit as well!

To get a better understanding of how this product works, I have listed the instructions below!

Note: Using an egg timer to keep track of the suggested times really helps!

Page 1: (Partner, Group, or Independent Practice)
Students will work with a partner, group, or independently on exercises #1–6. (10 minutes)
Show slide 1 of the PowerPoint so students can check their answers to these six exercises. Have class discussions as needed. (10 minutes)

Page 2: (Whole Class) Problems A and B
The whole class will watch slides 2 and 3 of the PowerPoint. This presentation shows students how to do these problems. They will copy down the information into their packet. (15 minutes)

Page 3: (Partner, Group, or Independent Practice)
Students will work with a partner, group, or independently on exercises #7–10. (10 minutes)
Show slides 4–7 of the PowerPoint so students can check their answers to these four exercises. Have class discussions as needed. (10 minutes)

Page 4 Top: (Whole Class) Problems C and D
The whole class will watch slides 8 and 9 of the PowerPoint. This presentation shows students how to do these problems. They will copy down the information into their packet. (15 minutes)
