Product Description
This resource can strengthen student understanding with factoring polynomials. Included you will find factoring guided notes and eleven differentiated, self-checking scavenger hunts. This resource is excellent for various levels of understanding that exist in your classroom.

Guided Notes
✓ Solving Polynomial Equations (Zero Product Property)
✓ Factoring x^2 + bx + c
✓ Factoring ax^2 + bx + c
✓ Factoring Special Products
✓ Factoring By Grouping

The guided notes are formatted two to a page (8.5 x 11). The notes fit very nicely into a composition size notebook. Two short exit slips are also included.

Scavenger Hunts
Below, you can find a brief description of each set of factoring scavenger hunts.

x^2 + bx + c
This set has two scavenger hunts. Scavenger hunt #1 includes trinomials with c as a constant. Scavenger hunt #2 includes c values with a second variable.

ax^2 + bx + c
This set has two scavenger hunts. The first scavenger hunt includes prime and composite values for a and some prime and composite values for c. The second scavenger hunt includes some problems in which the leading coefficient is negative. This scavenger hunt has more challenging numbers compared to scavenger hunt #1. If possible, students are asked to factor out a common monomial factor before factoring the trinomial.

ax^2 – c
The first difference of two squares scavenger hunt has all values of a = 1. The second scavenger hunt includes variables for a and c. Some of the problems require students to factor a second difference of two squares binomial within the initial problem.

Perfect Square Trinomials
This set has two scavenger hunts. On the first scavenger hunt, all of the leading coefficients are one. Students will factor a variety of trinomials in which the product of the two binomials includes addition or subtraction. The second scavenger hunt includes problems in which a GCF can be factored out first and fractions for the c value. For most of the problems, the leading coefficient perfect square is not one.

Grouping
One scavenger hunt is included for grouping polynomials that include four terms.

Mixed Review
This set has two scavenger hunts with a variety of factoring problems. The second scavenger hunt is more challenging than the first scavenger hunt. Students are encouraged to factor out a GCF. Some problems involve fractions and have a c value which includes a constant and a variable.

Answer keys are included.
