This is a Unit on Factoring and Quadratics with a target audience of an Algebra 1 class (could be used elsewhere if appropriate). The Unit is a compilation of handouts/worksheets that could be used as lessons or for practice or homework. The first set of lessons involve basic factoring including: Greatest Common Factor (GCF), Difference of Perfect Squares, and Trinomials (without and with a prime leading coefficient), Factoring Completely, Mixed Review on Factoring, and a Factoring Quiz. We continue with lessons on solving Quadratic Equations. We learn to graph basic parabolas and the terminology involved with the parabola (maximum, minimum, axis of symmetry, vertex). Finally, a lesson on Quadratic Applications is included, where we use graphing of parabolas to solve some max/min problems, and using quadratic equations to solve some word problems.
