In this engaging new self-checking GOOGLE Slide resource, students factor quadratics with
a >1 in an activity similar to a scavenger hunt, but much more fun, paperless, and NO PREP for you!
Your students factor quadratics to rescue a stranded Penguin on top of a mountain. Who doesn’t love penguins? They must lead an expedition to rescue him. No cut and paste, just Drag & Drop in Google slides.
To begin, students drag the "Start" strip onto the themed area. They factor the first quadratic, then search the other movable strips for the one which has the solution. They drag that strip onto the rescue path, and repeat the process until they reach the stranded penguin.
Your students will know if they have a wrong answer because they won't be able to continue up the path for long with a wrong answer. This fun activity is self-checking, engaging to the student, and reinforces key concepts. Plus, it is NO PREP for you. Note: This resource is designed so they must factor and not use FOIL to work backwards,.
There are nine problems. Answer keys are included as well as illustrated detailed instructions for both you and your students on how to use the GOOGLE resource.
A printable B/W version is included
just in case of a bad tech day. Students will cut and paste the strips to rescue the penguin for the printable version.
Note: You and your students must have access to the internet and have individual FREE Google Drive Accounts to use this resource.
