These are a set of student friendly directions that can be placed at a center. Students will break a multiplication product down into matching factor pairs using factor rainbows. Students will need to examine the example in order to see how to list the factors and make connecting arcs to complete the "rainbow". Prerequisite: Students need to have mastered basic multiplication and related vocabulary (product, factors, etc.) before being able to break down products into factors. This center was designed for 4th grade. It might also be helpful to use while teaching prime and composite numbers.
