Product Description
These notes go along with factoring trinomials unit. They start off with examples showcasing that Factoring is simply reverse multiplication. Then the notes move into factoring trinomials, using the "X" game method (a*c method). This method has students multiply the first and last coefficients to find the "magic number" and then list the factors for that number to find the factors that add up to the middle number with the second term in the polynomial. There is also an extended section discussing multi-step factoring (taking out a GCF or a negative first, then regular trinomial factoring) as well as 20 homework problems covering all of the above and a quick 3 question exit ticket to use as a formative assessment at the end of the lesson (or beginning of the next lesson)!

Here are some of my factoring activities that pair well with these notes:
Factor GCF Scavenger Hunt!
Factor by Grouping Task Cards {With or Without QR Codes}
Factoring Trinomials Shooting Stars Bingo
Factoring Trinomials Cut & Paste Activity
Factoring Trinomials Task Cards {a=1}
