Product Description
As my Geometry students end out the year, I find they often need a review of factoring trinomials. I have found that using an area model works really well, since it integrates the concepts of area of rectangles with the concept of factoring.

For an example of what I mean by an area model, please hover over thumbnail 3: you'll notice that the products of the diagonals are equal.

The first page of this worksheet is intended for students to discover this pattern and exploit it to factor trinomials; in parts 2 and 3, I have additional trinomials to factor.

I use this activity within cooperative groups, and I circulate to make sure they are getting the purpose of the questions.

The file includes spiral review problems on the second page.

This worksheet is intended to be written on directly.

Please download the pdf preview file first, so you can see exactly what's included; the product file is a word document, which you may personalize for your students.
