This activity includes three graphing exercises and 27 questions requiring written responses. The reading and writing exercises compare normal fetal development to this development when the Mother (or Father) engages in harmful behaviors such as smoking tobacco or marijuana, alcohol consumption and exposure to toxins such as lead.
This activity can be incorporated into a unit on reproduction and development or used as part of stand alone lesson (for example if a substitute teacher needed to work with the class). This activity has been correlated to the Common Core reading and writing standards, the NGSS standards and the New York State Living Environment core curriculum standards. This activity is downloadable as a zip file containing both the activity and a suggested answer key to the activity.
