This is a complete 7 day unit covering factors and multiples.
The main unit is 83 pages. After this there are 72 pages illustrating the factors for #s 1-36 using area models.
In this unit students will do the following:
--Learn that multiples refer to the product of a number
--Learn that factors refer to numbers that divide into another number evenly (w/o remainder)
--Understand the concepts of prime and composite
--Conceptually prove the factors of a number using area models
--Learn how to use the concepts of factors and multiples to solve story problems
Included are the following:
--Notes and answer keys to notes containing suggested problems to use as introduction or review for the particular day
--Worksheets for homework, answer keys to the hw, + answer keys with suggested point values (Also, the keys show how the answers were derived)
--A study guide (practice test) that has an answer key (Students can get extra credit by getting a parent signature)
--2 tests (with answer keys included) so that retakes are available
--All the factors for #s 1-36 shown conceptually
This unit has been created with the Common Core in mind. It is intended to build upon the 4th grade concepts. It is specifically designed for 5th grade, but it can also be used as a review for 6th grade.
I presently use this in 5th grade, but it could be modified for 4th grade or used as a remedial tool in 6th grade.
