Groundhogs (Groundhog Day, animal research, taking notes)

Groundhog Day is celebrated every year on February 2nd. Legend has it that if a groundhog emerges from its burrow and sees its shadow, then there will be six more weeks of winter. If the groundhog emerges and doesn't see its shadow, then spring will come early.

This little worksheet asks children research the following questions:
-What is another name for groundhogs? (woodchuck, whistle-pig or land-beaver)
-Where do groundhogs live?
-What do groundhogs eat and drink?
-How do groundhogs protect themselves?
-What happens on Groundhog Day?

There is only one black and white page in this file. The clip art is provided by: Kimberly Geswein Fonts, Lindy du Plessis, and My Cute Graphics.
