Students gain a much deeper understanding of novels by talking about what they read. Socratic seminars are an excellent forum for driving student discussions. This resource contains questions that ask student to go beyond the surface details of the novel and dig into some of messages they think are being conveyed by Ray Bradbury. Students should respond to these questions on the handout as homework the day prior to the Socratic seminar. They should use their responses as notes for their discussion. These 5 questions are enough to drive a discussion for at least 1 full hour or two 30-40 minute sessions.
