Students will research one commodity that the United States imports from a foreign country. Some sub topics researched include:
What is fair trade?
Where does this commodity originate?
What are the demographics of this country?
What is the infrastructure for this country?
How is this commodity produced or manufactured?
What is the fair trade program for this commodity/country in terms of social justice, environmental protection and economic development?
After the research is completed, students will create a two-page newsletter on their findings. It is assumed that students already have basic knowledge of using Adobe InDesign software for this assignment. However, you could easily adapt the evaluation sheet included to other software such as Microsoft Word or PowerPoint.
