Liven up your first days of school with this mini-unit, Fairy Tale Fun. Filled with community building activities, your students will never know that they are learning about themselves and their classmates while having fun doing it! The activities are simple and don't take a lot of time, so you will still have time to do those "mandatory" first week activities.
Included in this resource are:
~Student Welcome Gift from the Teacher: The gift is a fairy tale wand. Included are star cards that read, "I believe in your magic." At my local WalMart, I purchased crazy straws. Punch a hole in the star card and tie to the straw using curling ribbon.
~The Matching Shoe: There are two types of shoe printables that students can choose from. They are imagining that they have the shoe the Prince is looking for. They can design it how they like. Cut them out and display. Students can explain their shoe design to a partner. A new spin on All About Me!
~My Royal Banner: Students are making a royal banner using words and images. There are four different categories for them to fill in. When finished, cut out and glue to colored paper. Your Royal Class!
~Lead Us Home Snack: This is a spin-off from Hansel and Gretel. Students will be making a community "trail" mix that could be used to get them back to their home. To make, students bring in items such as sugar cereals, pretzels, popcorn, raisins, etc. I've included a note you can send home requesting donations.
