These journals are the perfect addition to your Fairy Tale unit! Included are two different journals to help students record the elements of the various fairytales.
Elements Journal: I used this journal with my 2nd graders during our daily read alouds of each fairy tale version. The kiddos would record which fairy tale elements were evident in the story (good character, wicked character, fantasy/magic, once upon a time, problem/solution) as I would record them on an anchor chart on the board. This was a great reference for my students to use during small groups or independent work.
Character Journal: I used this journal with my 1st graders during our daily read alouds of each fairy tale version. My 1st graders recorded who the good and wicked characters were, as well as the adventures they went on in the story.
Fairy Tales Included: Three Little Pigs, Goldilocks & The Three Bears, Jack & The Beanstalk, Cinderella, & create your own
Because I teach a 1st/2nd split, these journals were the perfect way for me to differentiate the Common Core standards to meet the needs of both groups of kiddos. However, you could use whichever journal you feel your students would do best with.
