This story map assignment helps students focus on SETTING in a fun, creative way. Students use a handout, "Fairy Tale Map: Setting" to keep track of the locations in a story they read. Using the guidelines provided, they then make a map of those locations. Student work samples are included along with an optional sample to print: "Journey of the Big Bad Wolf."
I have successfully used this assignment with students in grades 4 & up. Depending on how the teacher presents them, they could be enjoyed by slightly older or younger students.
