This is a great freebie to use when learning about perspective/point of view!
After reading both stories (The Three Little Pigs and The True Story of the Three Little Pigs) we discussed what perspective/point of view is and its significance in stories. Please note that this was broken into two days--one day reading/discussing the traditional Three Little Pig Story and how students felt about the Wolf and the second day reading/discussing The True Story of the Three Little Pigs and how the character's point of view changed/is different compared to the original tale after reading the story from the Wolf''s perspective.
We discussed as a class how point of view (perspective) is similar to seeing a situation through the eyes of the another person. We also discussed why it is important to hear both sides of the story. This led to the discussion of the symbolism of the glasses and how they relate to the project (seeing through the eyes of someone else).
After reading both stories, students then picked which character's perspective they wanted to write about. The student samples turned out quite humorous!
