A school year just wouldn't be a school year without Fairy Tales! Here is a set of ten writing prompts I created that may be used with a variety of favorite folk tales. In this set you will find:
If I Met The Big Bad Wolf....
If I Climbed A Beanstalk....
If I Had Three Wishes, I Would Wish For....
If I Kissed A Frog....( Your students will write the events that happen after they kiss a frog, using First, Next, Then, Finally steps)
Can You Describe Who Lives Here? Using a Mushroom House picture, your students will describe who they think might live in the house and draw a picture.
Mirror, Mirror On the Wall, Who's the ______ One of All? Your students will choose a word that best describes them to complete the chant, and then draw picture of themselves in the mirror.
Red Riding Hood's Basket: Write a List of Food for Little Red Riding Hood to take to her Grandmother and draw a picture of each item.
Dear Goldilocks: Write a letter to Goldilocks explaining what she did wrong and suggesting ways to apologize and fix the problems.
Wizard's Recipe Card: How to Change ___ Into _____. Create a recipe using Step by Step instructions on how to change one thing into something else. Draw a picture of the ingredients in the magic pot.
If I Lived In A Castle: Write about who you would be and what jobs you would do if you lived in a castle.

MAGIC POT RECIPE FOR_____________? ( Students will fill in a recipe card by supplying missing information in the recipe card)
IF I COULD SPIN STRAW INTO GOLD....
IN MY OPINION, THE LITTLE RED HEN SHOULD (SHARE) OR (NOT SHARE) BECAUSE..
DEAR MR. WOLF, YOU CAN'T BLOW MY HOUSE DOWN BECAUSE....Your students will explain why the wolf will not be able to blow down their house, and can include a drawing of their house as well!
These prompts could work well for either independent writing/ phonetic spelling or dictation. Enjoy!
