Description

Objectives

  • By the end of this activity, students will demonstrate their understanding of the differences between the preterite and imperfect tenses by writing their own Spanish sentences.
  • The students will create their own fairy tale in Spanish, using the past tense.

Activity Summary

The students will begin the lesson with a brief review of how to tell stories in the past, focusing on the use of the preterite versus imperfect tense. They will then work in groups to create their own fairy tales, first in English, then in Spanish. They will create a rough draft, checking grammar, sentence structure, use of accents and capitalization, as well as proper use of the past tense, before moving into the online storybook tool Storyjumper. Students will then transfer their stories to Storyjumper and add their voices. Stories can be shared on a Smartboard or in small groups, once students are done.
