Have you been looking for ways to help your students evaluate what they read online for credibility?
This is Lesson 4 in my Fake News unit.
The previous three lessons include a discussion of the importance of truth, in-depth vocabulary study of current terms related to fake news, and teaching a set of criteria with activities to identify fake news. This lesson goes more into depth about where fake news comes from, ad why people would create it, read it, believe it and share it.
The sequence of the unit is:
Fake News Lesson 1: Is Truth Important?
Fake News Lesson 2: News Vocabulary
Fake News Lesson 3: How to spot fake news.
Lesson 4: Why lie? Why do people create, read and share fake news?
Lesson 5: Writing: How to Write Real News
