Count the Room

Searching for a fun new way for your students to practice counting objects 1-10 this fall/autumn?
Want a center that is little to no prep but has your little explorers up and about?
Need a center that can be used several ways and can be differentiated?

This Fall/Autumn themed 'count the room' activity will engage your independent learners and they will have no idea they are practicing counting and writing numbers 1-10!

They are sure to LOVE this center!

The center can also be used as a 'stationary' center rather than count the room. Place cards in baskets and/or buckets rather than tape around the room!

You can use it in a fall sensory bin too! Simply fill your bin/bucket with artificial leaves, corn, oats, beans, etc. Add these cards and have students pull and match number to picture cards or pull picture cards and record the number of objects on their recording sheet!

Use it for early finishers basket too!

This Pack Includes:
*Directions/Suggestions for use

*10 Counting Cards with a ‘Fall’/'Autumn' Theme

*Number Cards 1-10

*3 Recording Sheets (for differentiation)

Supports and Aligns with Common Core Learning Standards for Counting and Cardinality.

Directions/Suggestions For Use:
Print and laminate cards. Tape cards around the room for a ‘count the room’ activity or they can be placed in a basket/bucket on a table for a stationary center activity.

Students look at the picture(s), count the number of objects on the card and write down the number of objects on the recording sheet next to the picture of the object.

Choose the recording sheet that best matches the skill level of your students- no number writing assistance, number line provided, trace the number.

Other Ideas:
Use for centers, center extension activities and/or early finisher basket:
*Have students match object cards to number cards

*Place a set of these cards in a basket/bag. Students can put them in order from least to most objects (or most to least).

*Partner match up- give ½ your students number cards and the other ½ object cards. They have to move about the room to find their ‘match’ partner

*Use as a sensory bin/bucket math center too

Count to answer “how many?” questions about as many as 20 things arranged in a line, a rectangular array, or a circle, or as many as 10 things in a scattered configuration; given a number from 1-20, count out that many objects.
Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality.
Write numbers from 0 to 20. Represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0-20 (with 0 representing a count of no objects).
Count forward beginning from a given number within the known sequence (instead of having to begin at 1).
Count to 100 by ones and by tens.
