### Description

This autumn number sense activity offers your little pumpkins an engaging math center to practice counting and writing numerals to 10 or 20. This mental math resource complements autumn/fall, school, farm, harvest, scarecrow, or pumpkin themes. This activity is a perfect pumpkin patch/pumpkin farm field trip follow-up lesson.

This packet has one set of 20 Count the Room cards and 2 recording pages to provide differentiation opportunities. Select the first ten cards to address numerals to 10. Use all cards to address numerals to 20. The tens pumpkin images on the cards are arranged in a bundle (stack) of 10 to address standards for Place Value in Number and Operations in Base Ten. The cards and recording pages have matching graphics.

These activities are appropriate for use by learners and classrooms who DO NOT celebrate Halloween. The pumpkin images are NOT depicted as Jack-o-Lanterns. There are other autumn themed images used, but no Halloween specific images are included in this resource.

Print, laminate, and cut out the cards. Make copies of the recording page for the quantities you have selected.

Hang the cards in places around the room. Give each student a clipboard, pencil, and recording page. Learners search the room for cards. When they find a card, they write their response in the correct space on the recording page.

This resource helps learners develop numeracy and also supports the Math Common Core Standards for Counting and Cardinality.

Have a fantastic fall day counting with your scarecrow friends at the pumpkin patch!
