    Description

    Fall Foldable Decodable Texts

These fall-themed decodable texts have been so much fun for my students to use. As kids develop their phonics skills, having plenty of different types of decodable readers for them to use for practice is essential.

These affordable little books are easy to use and will give your reading groups meaning and connection to the season. For an additional twist, these are written in the “What Am I?” format so students can read the clues and guess what each little story is about. Whenever we can add language comprehension to our phonics lessons in our science of reading curriculum, we give our little readers an extra boost as they build mental models of texts.

These texts are foldable, so all you have to do is run a copy of each page, fold it into fourths, and you have a book. It’s so much easier than trying to figure out which page goes in the copier in which direction. Just print, fold, and go!

This set of decodable texts includes 9 differentiated topics for a total of 18 books. For instance, there are two Jack-O-Lantern texts. The first is centered around digraphs: It’s numbered 2. The other has the ou/ow vowel teams for additional challenge. The more challenging text is #2a. Each of the difficult texts has an “a” after the number. Each skill and number is clearly designated at the top so you can organize your copies.

The following skills are included in this set:

    • Mixed CVC

    • Digraphs

    • Blends

    • vCe

    • Syllable Division Rules

    • Vowel Teams

Additionally, this product contains a set of letter flash cards and a set of vowel team and consonant digraph cards for use in your small groups.

Thank you so much for considering this product! Happy teaching!

    Fall Decodable Poetry

Decodable poems and readers are so important for your Science of Reading curriculum. I love creating products to make my small group reading intervention groups more effective. I wanted some seasonal poems that I could easily send home with kids. I needed something that was a little more advanced and covered more complex long vowel sounds in an engaging way. I loved the idea of making the poems both foldable and printable in portrait size for phonics notebooks. I wanted flexibility, but I didn’t want much prep time. That’s why I created this set.

This set of decodable poems includes 11 different foldable texts. Each foldable can be printed on regular 8 ½ by 11-inch paper as well for a phonics notebook. The poems all come with a worksheet so students can highlight and “word hunt” patterned words. There is a place for students to sort the words they find as well. This set will work if you have older kids working on these elementary phonics skills as well. If you’re a classroom teacher trying to differentiate, this product gives you a text for your small group and some independent practice while you see other students!

The following skills are included in this set:

    Vowel Teams

    • ai/ay

    • oa/ow

    • ea/ee

    • -y =ī

    • igh

    • -y = ē

    • ou/ow

    • oi/oy

    • au/aw

    • oo
