Math Centers


Fall Graph – a differentiated graphing activity.
K.CC.A3, K.CC.B.4, K.CC.B.5, K.CC.C.6

Version 1: Students count “how many?” of five different fall images in the picture scramble. After counting each one, they color in the number of squares next to that same image on the recording sheet. Counting up to five.

Version 2: Students count “how many?” of five different fall images in the picture scramble. After counting each one, they color in the number of squares next to that same image on the recording sheet. Then they answer two questions about more or less using their graph they made. Counting up to eight.

Leaf Patterns – differentiated patterns.
K.G.A.3, K.G.B.4, K.G.B.5

Version 1: Students use the pattern pieces to continue the shape patterns from the pattern cards. Then students find the matching pattern on the recording sheet and write the letter from the pattern card next to it.

Version 2: Students use the pattern pieces to continue the shape patterns from the pattern cards. Then students find letter from the pattern card on the recording sheet and draw the pattern next to it.

More or Less? – a differentiated comparing numbers activity.
K.CC.B.4, K.CC.B.5, K.CC.C.6

Version 1: Students choose a card and count the number of pictures on it. They decide if the amount of pictures is more or less than five. If it is more than five, they color the same picture on the recording sheet orange. If it is less than five, they color the same picture on the recording sheet red.

Version 2: Students choose a card and count both sets of pictures on it. They decide which set is more and which set is less. On the recording sheet they find the set of pictures and color the picture that is more orange and the picture that is less red.

Seed Count – a differentiated ten frame activity.
K.CC.A.3, K.CC.B.4, K.CC.B.5


Version 1: Students use the pumpkin seed counters (or use real pumpkin seeds) to fill the ten frame on the ten frame mats. Numbers 1-10 are represented. After filling the ten frame students find the matching number on the recording sheet and draw the same number of dots in the ten frame below.

Version 2: Students match the filled pumpkin seed ten frames to the number cards. Numbers 1-10 are represented. After matching the ten frames to the cards, students find the matching ten frame on the recording sheet and writes the numeral above it.

Shape Pumpkins – a differentiated shape spinner activity.
K.G.A.3, K.G.B.4

Version 1: Students use the pumpkin spinner and a paper clip (or clear spinner) to spin. When the spinner stops, the student should name the shape it lands on. Then, they should find a real life example of that shape on the recording sheet and color it. Continue until all shapes are colored. This version represents six shapes: circle, hexagon, square, trapezoid, triangle, and rectangle.

Version 2: This activity works the same, but only incorporates the four basic shapes: triangle, circle, rectangle, and square.
