This is another one of my emergent readers using seasonal stickers available in your favorite craft store. I found 3 Fall/Thanksgiving Sticker books for $1. each. The stickers you need are common for Fall - acorns, apples, pumpkins, squirrels, scarecrows, turkeys, leaves, and birds. I've included a blank page in case you want to add your own text. The simple repetitive sentence uses the sight words - I and see. The students follow directions to place between 1-5 stickers in one of the following positions: in, next to, in front of, above, around, and beside the tree.
Use any or all of the 8 pages. Print the books in color or in black and white and have your students color the background scene. There is plenty of room for differentiation with this activity. For non-readers, place a dot where the child should put a sticker. Or use this as an oral direction activity. Or laminate the book and stickers and attach velcro so your kids can do it over and over again. As a reward for completing the book, I let my kids pick a bunch of stickers to decorate the cover.
Addresses Common Core ELA standards. Have fun!
