Fall Festival is a harvest party with a bountiful amount of short vowel fun! This packet includes a variety of short vowel activities done in a fall theme with graphics for the autumn celebrations: pumpkins, leaves, apples, Columbus Day, Thanksgiving, pilgrims, Indians, and even a graphic for Election Day!
Grades: First and second grades
Suggested Use: Literacy centers, word work, guided reading, small groups, and intervention groups
*(50) pages of word cards for each of the (5) vowels (a,e,i,o,u). That’s almost (200) word cards! Plenty of CVC words for beginning readers and those that need intervention. Some words contain blends and digraphs to add a challenge!
*Word cards are decorated with a cute fall-theme design. Simply print, laminate, and cut apart.
*(5) sorting mats- one for each vowel. Draw and write recording sheets for students to complete after sorting words included.
*Rhyming words sorting mat- Students match word cards that rhyme and record on the recording sheet.
*A-B-C order- Recording sheet.
*(6) pages- a total of (24) words- for a cut, glue, make, and read word activity. Students create words by gluing the appropriate vowel pumpkin to the word cards. Words must be real words!
*Story stationery for students to write about their favorite part of fall. They then highlight all the words they used with a short vowel.
Many other creative uses: use laminated word cards as flashcards, have students trace words using an Expo marker, play Memory or Concentration (I make multiple copies of the word cards for one vowel sound).
