This fun Autumn unit is a collection of 9 stations, plus several bonus activities, that help students use and apply phonics skills in a fall theme. Centers include games, a word search, an emergent reader, puzzles, writing activities, and much more!
This pack includes a student choice board with files and directions for accompanying station activities. All activities print PERFECTLY in black and white or color!
These stations are designed to be used for one week where students select one station per day or could also be used for two weeks in which all stations will be completed by the end of the two week period.
The open nature of the activities allows for differientiated levels to be met with your students while working on the same concept.
Station 1: Fall Book: Students draw fall objects and write a sentence to match.
Station 2: Fall Color, Cut, and Label: Students color the pictures that are fall symbols. Then they cut them out, glue them to their mat, and label each word.
Station 3: Fall Word Search: Students will illustrate the fall pictures after reading each word, find in the word search, then write a sentence.
Station 4: Fall Bingo: Students will look at each picture and label. If the word is a fall symbol, then they will color it. Can they find 3 in a row? (Color version if you choose to laminate.)
Station 5: Apple Picking Syllable Sort: Students will sort the apples into the correct syllable basket, then record on their sheet by drawing and labeling 2 items for each basket.
Station 6: Pound, Tap, and Stamp: Students will pound the word with their fist, then tap each individual sound. After that, students will stamp the beginning sound and write the words in the boxes. Then students will write a sentence about one of the pictures.
Station 7: Fall / Not Fall Picture Sort: Have students sort the pictures onto the correct side. Have them label the pictures.
Station 8: Back to Back Game: Students sit back to back with a partner. They draw a card from the bag. They give clues to their partner to help them guess the fall word on the card.
Station 9: Dab a Rhyme: Students use different colored bingo daubers to stamp each pair of rhyming words. You can choose the picture or word version.
EXTRA: Make it, Paint it, Tear it! Students can use art materials, paint, or torn paper to make a fall picture. Then write a sentence to tell about their creation.
EXTRA: Morning Work and Fall Handwriting Practice
