Barn Dance, written by Bill Martin Jr. and John Archambault and illustrated by Ted Rand, is one of my favorite picture books to share when autumn rolls around. The whimsical watercolor illustrations capture the magic of what happens in the barn on a farm one night when the scarecrow picks up his fiddle!
This creative writing pack will encourage your students to visualize what they would see, hear, smell, taste, and touch if they joined in the fun of a hoedown with farm animals! It will help them imagine, visualize, and make real-life connections to the text. Homespun clip art from Teaching in the Tongass makes this resource the perfect addition to your fall writing lessons or literacy centers.
