Great, low-prep activity for practicing identifying fractions without a worksheet!
Print 11 full-color pages. (Backing with construction paper and laminating will ensure that this activity can be used over and over.)
Post throughout the room. (I use Stikki Clips, but tape or staples would work just fine.)
Give each child a piece of notebook paper, pencil, and clipboard or other hard writing surface that they can carry around (whiteboards work great, too).
Instruct students to wander around the room and solve the posted problems. They don't have to go in numerical order. If necessary, tell them where to start to avoid congestion.
Post the answer key so that students can self-check.
Other Ideas for Walk-Abouts:
Go outside! Get some fresh air and post those pages on the playground!
Post in the gymnasium or auditorium to spread students out even more.
Great for partner work!
If you've never used Stikki Clips, check them out! They're great for this activity!
