This resource contains a fun, creative writing activity. You can use this in the classroom or for homework. It is aligned with Common Core's narrative writing requirements.
W.4.3: Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, descriptive details, and clear event sequences.
Orient the reader by establishing a situation and introducing a narrator and/or characters; organize an event sequence that unfolds naturally
Use dialogue and description to develop experiences and events or show the responses of characters to situations
Use a variety of transitional words and phrases to manage the sequence of events
Use concrete words and phrases and sensory details to convey experiences and events precisely
Provide a conclusion that follows from the narrated experiences or events
In this activity, students will create and develop a main character of their choice. They will then write a story that takes place at an orchard. Students will have to think of a problem faced by the character and come up with several failed attempts at solving the problem. Students will then have to come up with a successful solution to the problem.
A reference sheet for students, a scoring guide for the teacher, planning sheet for students, and fun paper are included in this resource.
