This fall (autumn) themed proper noun pack includes three seasonal, hands-on activities that make fantastic literacy centers for students in grade 1 and grade 2!
Here’s what you’ll find inside:
• Fall Themed Common Noun and Proper Noun Cut and Paste Sort
• Pumpkin Pickin’ Proper Nouns - Students will read the word located on each pumpkin and determine if it is a common noun or a proper noun. Proper nouns will be “picked” and placed into the wheelbarrow. Common nouns will be returned to the pumpkin patch. A recording sheet with directions is provided.
• Apple Picking with Proper Nouns - Students will read the sentence on each sentence strip and rewrite the sentence replacing the words in red (or the underlined words in the black and white version) with a proper noun that fits the sentence. Six sentence strips and a recording sheet with student directions are included.
The cut and paste activity is included in black and white only for easy copying. The remaining two activities are offered both in color and in black and white for those wishing to save on ink. Recording sheets are also offered with and without handwriting lines. Print the options that best fit your needs.
These activities address the following Common Core Standards:
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.L.1.1.B: Use common, proper, and possessive nouns.
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.L.2.2.A: Capitalize holidays, product names, and geographic names.
