It's perfect for the upper elementary student (grades 3-6). It's a no prep speech therapy packet, and is low ink as well! Motivate your speech and language therapy students with these engaging worksheets. These speech and language therapy worksheets are open-ended, and can be used with any fall themed book of your choice.

What’s included in this open-ended fall speech and language book companion?

(2) Story Elements Worksheets, which prompt students to identify characters, where story takes place, when story takes place, and to guess what the story might be about
(3) Story Maps Worksheets, which prompt students to retell the story when provided with graphic organizers and/or visuals
Cause & Effect Worksheet, which prompts the student to draw pictures representing a cause & effect relationship from the story, then write a complete sentence using a because/so statement about that cause & effect relationship
(1) Problem & Solution Worksheet, which prompts the student to explain the problem and solution in the story using complete sentences
Spin & Answer Worksheet, which prompts the student to answer comprehension questions throughout the story (this is an open-ended worksheet, questions are not provided)
(1) Defining Vocabulary Worksheet, which prompts the student to document any unfamiliar vocabulary terms as they read. In addition, the student must write down what they think the word means, before providing a dictionary definition
(2) Homonyms Worksheets (1 is open-ended, 1 has suggested homonyms), which prompt students to use each homonym in a sentence correctly while retelling story details
Open-Ended Synonyms & Antonyms Worksheet (SLP writes down target words from story)
(1) Categories Tic-Tac-Toe Worksheet (SLP writes down target category, student provides items in that category while playing tic-tac-toe)
(1) Draw & Describe Worksheet: student describes a character from the story by providing 6 attributes
(3) Figurative Language Worksheets which target fall-themed idioms. Student answers questions, which are based upon knowledge of figurative language targeted in the question
(4) Character Emotions Worksheets, which prompt the student to discuss emotions a character might be feeling during the story, and explain the reason behind that emotion.
What Went Wrong? Worksheet, which prompts the student to identify what social skills the character forgot to use during conflict situations
(1) Negation Worksheet, which prompts the student to answer (4) comprehension questions containing negatives
(1) Forming Sentences Worksheet, which prompts the student to answer (6) questions using complete sentences
