This Fall-Themed Idiom Matching Game was created to help students learn idioms in context. The fun fall theme is ideal for September, October, November and all year round. Included in this product are 30 idiom cards with matching definitions. A separate answer sheet for all the idioms are also provided. The cards with the acorns and leaves contain the idiom written in a sentence, while the cards with the apple barrel, show the answers. My students love this activity and ask for it.
I begin by teaching the meanings of the idioms. I place a few answer cards on the table and then read a card with the idiom. Students find the definition for the idiom. I gradually increase the number of cards until students know the idioms. Once the students know the idioms then we can play matching games as well as other games.
These fun idiom cards will provide hours of fun and learning.
