Developing number sense is key at the beginning of the year. Use these fun Apple Bond work mats to get your kids hands on with building numbers and creating number sentences. Great for whole group, small group, or math station / center activity.
Make the hands-on learning even more fun by using dried pinto beans as "apple seed" counters for students to use while composing and decomposing the number they roll on a dot cube!
Each student needs:
- 1 Apple Bonds work mat (half sheet)
- Apple Seed token counters OR Pinto Beans
- 1 Recording Sheet
Students roll a dot cube, then build a number bond that represents that number. As students get more fluent with numbers and counting they can incorporate 2 or more dice.
After a student builds a number, they can write their number bond on the provided recording sheet.
