What a PRICE, what a PACKET! This literacy package is perfect for fall and back to school in first grade. The packet covers reading, comprehension, writing, spelling, and word work.
Fall for First Grade consists of ten chapters. Each chapter highlights four CVC words (total of 40 CVC words) that focus on short vowels a, e, i, o, u. In the first half of each chapter, eleven activity sheets highlight word work activities that utilize the format below.
page 1: Draw a line to the matching words
page 2: Trace____ in red, ____in blue, ____in brown, etc.
page 3: Draw a line to make a word
page 4: Write two rhyming words
page 5: Look down and across to find and circle the (target) words
page 6: Unscramble the words
page 7: Read the words in each row as carefully as you can
page 8: Write each word three times
page 9: Which vowel fits
page 10: Draw a line to each word. What letter did you make
page 11: Draw a ________.
In the last half of each chapter, twelve activity sheets are provided for reading, comprehension, writing, and spelling activities. The stories are original one-page stories that highlight and reinforce the same CVC words presented in the word work activities. The twelve activity sheets for the reading, comprehension, writing, and spelling activities utilize the format below:
Page 1: Story
Page 2: Fill-in the Blanks (of the story)
Page 3: Circle the Answer (multiple choice questions)
Page 4: Write the Answer (who, what, when, where, how, why questions)
Page 5: Another Word (synonyms)
Page 6: Or (comprehension of “or” within a question)
Page 7: Can or Cannot? (yes/no questions)
Page 8: Draw a Line to Words that Mean the Same (synonyms)
Page 9: Name 3… (list 3 things in a category)
Page 10: When did it happen: Beginning, Middle, or End of the Story? (multiple choice)
Page 11: Finish the Story Your Way (students re-write the ending to the story)
Page 12: Be Creative (students draw a picture about the story)
