This packet includes:
★ Associations: Work on understanding and then verbally expressing ways that different spring time items go together. Complete the worksheet at home to include families. (CCSS.ELA-Literacy.L.5)
★ Basic Concepts: Have students practice their preposition and other basic concepts with fun and colorful scenes and cards. Students then practice labeling locations of items and using descriptive words. Send the worksheet home for more practice. (CCSS.ELA-Literacy.L.1, CCSS.ELA-Literacy.L.5)
★ Grammar: Students learn to discriminate between pronouns while pointing to items on a fun seasonal picture scene. Expressively, students practice using pronouns, is + ing verbs while playing a fun board game. The worksheet works on verb tenses. (CCSS.ELA-Literacy.L.1)
★ Describing: The super fun and quick paced receptive game helps students to practice recognizing items based on descriptive words. Then use the vocabulary acquired in the receptive activity to describe three things about a variety of seasonal pictures. The worksheet is the perfect way to practice describing in complete sentences with families. (CCSS.ELA-Literacy.L.5)
★ Antonyms: Receptively, students learn about antonyms by matching opposite picture cards in a memory style card game. Then, students practice expressive skills by labeling the antonym after they turn over one card. The worksheet includes a cut and paste activity to do in class or at home. (CCSS.ELA-Literacy.L.5)
★ Story Comprehension: After listening to a seasonal story for this unit (available in color or a mini version in black/white), students answer comprehension questions using a fun spinner activity. Then students create a story map and retell the story. Finally, students are able to take a take the story home for more practice! (CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RL.1, CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RI.2)
