An I AM poem with a FALL twist! Prompts that can apply to autumn, a harvest festival, a fall sport, Halloween and more have been added to the line starters. For example, "I like __ (something you look forward to during this time)" or "I worry ___ (something you are uncertain about related to this)". See the Preview for the student instructions and more examples.
--instruction sheet with the extended prompts (16 lines)
--detailed teacher suggestions for use
--visually appealing format appropriate for 4-8; simple black and white for easy photocopying.
--a half dozen sheets with the beginning lines but not the extended prompts to use for drafts or final copies, decorated with Halloween and fall themes.
You can assign the title or students can choose which fall-related activity to write about. A final decorated copy can be a terrific bulletin board. Use as a menu choice for creative writing, as a quick write, as the follow-up for an adjective lesson, for a center, an easy lesson for a substitute, or as as a fun activity to write and/or share if Halloween falls on a school day. A suggestion is to ask for volunteers to pick a response to one prompt and others can raise their hand if they share that feeling.
Grades 4-8. Supports CCS Standard ELA-Literacy.W.3d Use precise words and phrases, relevant descriptive details, and sensory language to convey experiences and events.
