Product Description

Falling Rhythms composition worksheets give young musicians a form to practice their dictation skills, creativity and create an awesome interactive bulletin board display. Includes 4 meters, 2 bulletin board heading options, and 2 sizes leaves.

  1. Worksheets are included for four different meters. Choose the option that will best fit the level of your students.
  2. Use the dictation worksheets to allow each student to listen and decode rhythms that you chant. Then, students may create 2 additional rhythm patterns on their own. Present your own guidelines on the type of rhythms to include and whether or not you will allow repetition.
  3. Use the copy worksheets for a “write the room” type activity. Display 4 rhythm patterns on your IWB, or on posters around the room. Then, students may create 2 additional rhythm patterns on their own. Present your own guidelines on the type of rhythms to include and whether or not you will allow repetition.
  4. Use the large, single leaf pages to encourage collaboration between small groups of students. Each student may create their own patterns following your guidelines, then combine with others to create a composition. The large leaves will make a great bulletin board display!
  5. Large leaves can also be posted around the classroom with teacher-notated rhythm patterns for use during a “write the room” activity.
  6. Consider using page protectors or dry erase pockets and dry erase markers to allow students a chance to practice writing their rhythms before transferring to the paper.
  7. Consider printing the worksheets on bright or pastel color papers for a colorful, standards-based bulletin board.
