I have been teaching grades 4-6 for the past 13 years. This activity is designed to keep parents informed about what is happening in their child’s classroom and stay informed about what they are learning. Students also have an opportunity to practice their writing skills.
Students write a letter each week to their parents discussing topics that they have learned about in class that week. This is a great way for students to reflect on what they’ve learned in class. It’s also a great way for students to practicing summarizing and using details to enhance their writing.
Parents will enjoy hearing about what their child has learned about in school each week. Students also enjoy seeing their parents’ responses. This is a great way to keep communication between child and parent open.
